1. APTA’s Interactive Audio and Video Telecommunications System Matrix – this is a telehealth platform spread sheet which lists several quality platforms along with descriptions and costs so that the reader can compare. This is not an endorsement of any one platform and was a collaborative effort between APTA Regulatory Affairs, FIRST Council and HPA Tech SIG. 2. Free Access to On Demand Patient Record Retrieval Service Across the Continuum – This is a big share for anyone who may need to access EHR record of a pt. (Post acute care and private practice may be very interested) – more complete information with links on COVID -19 page about a quarter way down on the page

Kno2 is making their portal available for purposes of On Demand Patient Record Retrieval Service available at NO CHARGE (during state of emergency) to all of post-acute including LTACs, IRFs, Skilled Nursing, Homecare/Home Health, Therapy Providers, etc. This provides an opportunity to access the most recent patient records of other providers in the community as we treat patients during this public health crisis.

RESOURCES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Dear Academy Members:

I hope you and those close to you are healthy and safe. It is truly an unprecedented time for all of us. No matter what part of the country and what type of practice you are in there are profound challenges.

I wanted to share with you that APTA has been quite active in their response to this global pandemic. Specifically, the guidelines for physical therapy practice are quite relevant for all areas including sports physical therapy.

Now, more than ever it is time for all of us to pull together as a team to be a part of the solution for our
patients, our practices, our profession, our country, and our world.

Whenever I communicate with our members, I feel the passion they have for sports physical therapy. The team approach that is so inherent to us in sports is oh so relevant and important during times such as these. The team approach is how we will work through the toughest of times.

SUPPORT APTA IN EXPANDING TELEHEALTH FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY SERVICES!

Rule changes recently announced by CMS in response to the COVID-19 pandemic add codes commonly associated with therapy to those that may be delivered through telehealth. But there’s one problem: CMS has made no related changes to allow PTs to actually provide services through telehealth, even though the codes have now been okayed for that use. The apparent contradiction may be partly because the new rules were written prior to the passage of the CARES Act last week.

Access to telehealth has now become of critical importance to ensure the safety of patients and their physical therapy providers. The Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) Act is bipartisan legislation that would do exactly that by expanding the use of telehealth coverage under Medicare.

APTA is pursuing the CMS disconnect, urging the agency to use its waiver authority to expand telehealth recognition to PTs.
