My Acupuncture Experience for Weight Loss 

Convinced enough by the initial research, I decided to give this wacky ear seed method a shot. I admit I felt ridiculous waltzing into my appointment with a bag of seeds and adhesive strips. But I dutifully sat through my practitioner sticking what felt like 80 tiny seeds and beads all over the outer rim and interior folds of both my ears. I looked utterly ridiculous but if it worked for weight loss, I didn’t care! Read on for the wild ride documenting my steps to use ear seeds for weight loss.

Getting the ear seeds put on was easy, though feeling all those tiny seeds and beads adhere to my ears gave me an awkward feeling at first. My practitioner used small flesh-colored beads and tiny round Vaccaria seeds, strategically placing them on different pressure points related to hunger, metabolism, and digestion. She stuck them on firmly with small pieces of hypoallergenic tape. I left with my ears covered top to bottom in tiny seeds and strict instructions not to disturb them.

The first week of having ear seeds was an adjustment. I felt hyper-aware of them whenever I moved my head and itched to peel them off. But I resisted messing with the seeds, only gently patting down the edges of the tape as needed. I did get some funny looks and questions in public about the stuff stuck all over my ears! I almost fell over when I saw I was already down 8 pounds! I measured myself and found I’d dropped nearly 2 inches from my waist and hips.

My clothes were fitting more loosely and I generally felt less bloated and swollen than before ear seeds. Over the next 2 weeks, I watched a few more pounds consistently melt away on the scale. After 5 weeks I was down a total of 12 pounds – all from those tiny seeds stuck to my ears!

I was amazed that such a simple, noninvasive method seemed to be the weight loss boost I needed. My practitioner said the strategic placement of seeds on hunger, metabolism, and digestion points created a synergistic effect. She advised me to come back regularly to reapply for new seeds as needed until hitting my goal weight.

I never imagined sticking tiny seeds and beads to the outer rims of my ears could influence hunger hormones and kickstart weight loss. But my ear seed experiment yielded a 12-pound slim-down I couldn’t achieve otherwise. Who knew this offbeat traditional Chinese Medicine practice could be the diet boost I needed?
